Senna leaf is a very strong laxative that is used mainly for acute constipation. To prevent griping pains in the intestines, it is best used in combination with a smaller amount of a warming stimulant and antispasmodic such as ginger or peppermint.

Too frequent usage can lead to laxative dependency.

Not to be used during pregnancy.
