Hibiscus flowers are commonly used for colds and flus. This sweet and sour flower is excellent served hot or cold, either by itself or added to other botanicals for flavoring. In the last few years, hibiscus tea has become one of our most popular choices for maintaining healthy blood pressure and cardiovascular health. Recent studies have shown that hibiscus is useful for arteriosclerosis, hypertension, and stimulating intestinal peristalsis. The flowers contain gossypetin, anthocyanin, and glucoside hibiscin.
