The first recorded use of clay goes back to ancient Mesopotamia (c. 2500 BCE). In ancient Egypt, Cleopatra used clay to preserve her complexion. Today, clay is still used for cleansing and nourishing the skin. To make a mud mask, mix clay with water or oil.
