Assam is a full bodied tea with a good malty flavor made from the delicate leaf tips of the Assam tea bush. The Assam valley in India is dominated by the Brahmaputra river ? a large slowly meandering river, which over time of flooding during the spring and fall, has deposited a rich loam over the valley. The soil is deep and sandy. The region suffers a very hot and steamy monsoon season, but recovers with an equally important dry and cool winter.
